1. Do not do to others what you would not want them to do to you.

Ne aggiungo con piacere altri quattro, presi da “The God Delusion”, di Richard Dawkins, nell’edizione di “Houghton Mifflin Co.”, pag. 264 (ne avremo mai una taduzione in italia?):

1. Enjoy your own sex life (so long as it damages nobody else) and leaves others to enjoy theirs in private whatever their inclinations, which are none of your business.
2. Do not discriminate or oppress on the basis of sex, race or (as far as possible) species.
3. Do not indoctrinate your children. Teach them how to think for themselves, how to evaluate evidence, and how to disagree with you.
4. Value the future on a timescale longer than your own.

In particolare, il primo del gruppo iniziale, ha sempre guidato le mie azioni. E non mi è certo stato insegnato da un’entità superiore, nè tanto meno da un suo presunto rappresentante in terra, bensì dai miei genitori (che per questo ringrazio).

Nel secondo gruppo, il primo contiene una grande verità: lasciamo che ognuno possa farsi gli affari propri. Tutte le maggiori religioni monoteistiche, invece, propongono (impongono?) una morbosa attenzione per quello che fa il vicino, catalogando come “peccati” (!) semplici preferenze o orientamenti (ma anche le opinioni). Ciò che, in una teocrazia si traduce poi in legge con relativa punizione per il reo: apostasia, omosessualità, infedeltà matrimoniale (ma solo della donna, eh!), sono veri e propri reati, puniti con la pena di morte in diversi Paesi, dove la legge dello Stato è la legge di un testo “sacro” (sic). Anche nel presunto redento Afghanistan, quello di Hamid Kharzai, presidente di uno Stato che dovrebbe essere ormai civilizzato, secondo gli USA che lo avrebbero liberato. Direi piuttosto che si è tentato di sostituire un fondamentlismo con un altro: quello islamico (talebano, in particolare), con quello evangelico statunitense.

Sempre fra quelli proposti da Dawkins, il terzo sarà per me fondamentale: trovo che sia di una bellezza unica.
